According to an announcement from the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), state-backed wireline operator Kazakhtelecom (KT) generated revenues of KZT175.8 billion (USD1.2 billion) in 2012. Consolidated EBITDA amounted to KZT69.2 billion, while consolidated net income – excluding the USD1.52 billion raised through the sale of a 49% stake in K’cell to TeliaSonera – stood at KZT20.0 billion for the period under review. CAPEX for 2012 was reported at KZT63.3 billion. In operational terms, as of 31 December 2012 KT claimed a total of 4.047 million fixed lines in service, of which 1.105 million cover rural locations. The company’s broadband subscriber base stood at 1.203 million at the same date.
