Ukrainian cellco Astelit (life:)) has reported that its user base’s daily consumption of mobile internet services increased by 60% in 2012, while voice usage shrank by 7.3% compared with 2011. Daily peak traffic in December 2012 increased by 58% compared to December 2011 – from 9.2TB to 14.5TB, as several factors drove up mobile internet demand, including the increasing number of smartphone users, as well as Astelit’s tariff policies. In addition, in 2012 the life:) network increased its capacity and data transfer rate. As a result, the average download speed data was boosted to 125kbps.
