State backed telco Uzbektelecom has secured a USD107.6 million loan from the China Development Bank to fund a network expansion and modernisation programme, UzDaily reports. Uzbektelecom plans to improve its backbone links, expand and develop its CDMA-450 wireless network and roll out a fibre-based (FTTx) access infrastructure. The operator is expected to sign purchase agreements with vendors in Q2 2013 and to begin deployment shortly afterwards.
