China Mobile and local vendor ZTE have tested carrier aggregation (CA) technology on the cellco’s Time Division Long Term Evolution (TD-LTE) network in Guangdong, 4-Traders reports. The trials were carried out in an outdoor environment and achieved a peak single user download rate of 223Mbps. Commenting on the trials, a spokesperson for ZTE said: ‘This successful test has helped narrow the gap between TD-LTE and LTE FDD [Frequency Division Duplex]. We are pleased with the results and will continue to work on spreading CA technology for commercial use.’
