State-owned national fixed line operator Liberia Telecommunications Company (Libtelco) has launched fibre-optic services in Monrovia using a tie-up to the Africa Coast to Europe (ACE) submarine cable system, The New Dawn reports. The link to the ACE system, which spans more than 17,000km in length and connects about 25 countries along the West Coast of Africa, will provide much needed broadband interconnection to global telecoms and ICT networks, Libetelco said. In the first phase, the PTO intends to deploy fibre-based services covering the entire metropolitan Monrovia area, including 18th Street, Sinkor up to Congo Town, Paynesville, Somalia Drive and Freeport, respectively.
