Mobile number ports exceed 120,000

The Georgian National Communications Commission (GNCC) has revealed that 121,183 mobile subscribers have ported their telephone numbers since the facility was launched just under two years ago on 15 February 2011. Of that total, 46,718 users had transferred their number to the network of Geocell, while 44,011 users had transferred their number from Geocell to a rival network (a net addition of 2,707 subscribers). By the same date, 29,969 numbers had been ported to and 23,894 from the network of Mobitel (a net gain of around 6,075), while new cellco SilkNet had acquired 85 subscribers but had lost 38 users through MNP. MagtiCom is the only mobile operator to have lost out, having seen 53,420 subscribers transferred to a rival network, but gaining only 44,411 by October 2012 (a net loss of over 9,000 subscribers).
