RCOM signs seven-year deal with Alca-Lu

16 Jan 2013

Reliance Communication (RCOM) has signed a seven-year managed services deal worth over USD1 billion with French-US vendor Alcatel-Lucent. The agreement will see Alca-Lu install its next generation operation support systems (OSS) and network optimisation tools to improve the performance of the telco’s wireless, wireline and fibre networks. In addition Alca-Lu will assist in combining RCOM’s fixed and wireless arms under a single management structure. Under the terms of the deal, Alcatel-Lucent will be responsible for improving network performance and service quality, with the goal of increasing customer satisfaction up to 2020.

Commenting on the partnership, Gurdeep Singh, the CEO of RCOM’s wireless unit said: ‘We are happy to announce our new partnership with Alcatel-Lucent, which is a transformative leap from the limited scope and vision of traditional outsourcing of services. This will enable Reliance Communications to take the lead in offering next generation telecom solutions that will meet and exceed the expectations of our customers, and help them to transit from voice-led usage to a seamless data experience across multiple devices and platforms.’
