Coverage of Movistar’s IPTV service expanded thanks to technical improvements

16 Jan 2013

Spanish fixed line incumbent Telefonica Espana, which offers its services under the Movistar banner, has reportedly expanded the reach of its IPTV service, according to ADSL Zone. Having concluded tests of technical improvements to its networks, the operator can now reportedly offer the pay-TV service to any of its broadband customers which can connect at downlink rates of 4Mbps or higher; previously the Imagenio-branded IPTV product was only available to those connected at 6Mbps or more. As a result of the technical work, Movistar has said that more than 700,000 homes are now able to access its IPTV offering.
