Millicom International Cellular (MIC) and Orabank have partnered to launch mobile money services in Chad, Agence Ecofin reports. MIC’s local unit, Tigo Chad, is the first of the nation’s providers to introduce mobile financial services, having complied with regulations set by the Bank of Central African States (BEAC). The service, which allows customers to transfer cash and make payments via their mobile handset, was available through agents in N’Djamena, Mao, Moundou and Abeche at launch, with further cities to be added soon.
