McAdam pours scorn on Verizon Wireless buyout rumours

Verizon Communications chief executive Lowell McAdam has dismissed widespread speculation suggesting that his company is in talks with the UK’s Vodafone Group about taking full ownership of their Verizon Wireless joint venture, Reuters reports. Speaking at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, McAdam commented: ‘There are no discussions about it. It has been feasible for ten years. There is nothing that’s changed’. Last week credible rumours circulated stateside suggesting that Verizon, which owns 55% of the mobile giant, was poised to make a play for Vodafone’s 45% stake.
