Free upgrades monthly call packages to include overseas territories

8 Jan 2013

The French telco Free, which is part of the Iliad group, is to include the French overseas territories of Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique and Reunion in its call packages in a move which it says will help ‘to bridge the digital divide between metropolitan France and its overseas departments’. Customers of Free’s ‘Freebox Revolution’ package and its Free Mobile cellular subscribers will be offered calls to the overseas destinations as part of their monthly inclusive call minutes. Free had over 5.2 million broadband subscribers and 4.4 million mobile subscribers at 30 September 2012, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database.
