Fixed-wireless CDMA operator Sferia, part of the telecoms empire of Polish billionaire Zygmunt Solorz-Zak, has begun rolling out a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, rpkom reports. The new network will use the company’s 850MHz spectrum and will concentrate on eliminating so-called ‘white spots’, in line with demands from regulator Office of Electronic Communications (UKE). Sferia had reportedly been forced to delay the rollout for several years by legal and regulatory complications. TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database notes that Sferia’s sister company Aero2 currently operates a Time Division (TD) LTE network and leases access to the high-speed infrastructure to a third Solorz-Zak-owned company, Polkomtel.
