Telefonica Germany has announced that it has completed the renaming of its DSL products to O2 from the Alice brand it inherited from the acquisition of Telecom Italia’s HanseNet in early 2010. ‘With the renaming we are taking the last major step for the brand transition from Alice to O2 and present our mobile and fixed line portfolio again under the uniform brand O2,’ said the company’s managing director Pete Rampling, who added that the products themselves will remain unaffected by the change in brand. Telefonica Germany had around 2.43 million fixed broadband customers at the end of September 2012, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, giving it around 8.6% of the market.
