14 Dec 2012

Tracfone Wireless, the Miami-based mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) owned by Carlos Slim’s America Movil (AM) has launched a new pre-paid brand ‘Telcel America’ that aims to provide consumers with inexpensive calling options to Mexico. The brand offers unlimited data, SMS texting and voice calls, as well as unlimited voice calls to Mexico, for USD60 per month. Telcel America is likely to leverage the advantageous position of another Slim subsidiary, Telcel, which is Mexico’s largest wireless carrier by subscribers.
