Greek incumbent telco OTE has launched commercial VDSL broadband internet and telephony packages for the consumer market with download speeds of up to 50Mbps. At launch, OTE’s chief operating officer Zacharias Piperidis declared that ‘investments in VDSL will continue so that gradually it will be available everywhere.’ Four new VDSL-based packages have been added to OTE’s double-play broadband/telephony range, which include unlimited calls to fixed lines (with the option to bundle in calls to mobile lines). The cheapest VDSL double-play package offers a 30Mbps connection for EUR41.90 (USD54.30) per month, discounted to EUR36.90 for the first six months under a promotion, while a 50Mbps package costs EUR51.90 (EUR46.90 for the first six months).
