UPC Slovakia acquires three small cablecos in east

19 Oct 2012

American-owned cableco UPC Broadband Slovakia has acquired three smaller cable TV and internet network operators covering a combined eight cities in the eastern region of the country, expanding its national footprint to 41 cities. The three cablecos, Kid, Termosat and S-Team, have around 9,000 subscribing households in cities including Kosice, Broadband TV News reported. Following the purchase of undisclosed value, UPC plans to upgrade all three regional networks to enable high speed internet access at up to 120Mbps via DOCSIS 3.0 technology, 130-channel digital TV (including 14 in high definition) and cable-based fixed telephony bundled free of additional charge for customers signing up to triple-play packages.
