UKE consults on the need for universal service provider

18 Oct 2012

Polish regulator the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) has invited comments on the need for a universal service operator, obliged to provide telecoms services to areas with limited coverage, poor service quality or inadequate competition. The watchdog’s move follows the termination of the universal service obligations of the incumbent telco – Orange Poland, previously known as Telekomunikacja Polska (TP) – in May 2011. UKE has set a deadline of 16 November 2012 for comments.
