18 Oct 2012

The Cook Islands government is setting up a telecoms advisory committee to address concerns about the industry, including the monopoly held by Telecom Cook Islands, reports Radio New Zealand International. Telecoms minister Mark Brown has called for expressions of interest from companies and individuals with a view to participating in the telecoms sector, while the minister will personally choose committee members from those that come forward. There has been recent controversy surrounding costs, access, reliability and non-competitiveness of services in the Pacific nation.
