Alca-Lu and TDC test 100Mbps DSL services

The French-US equipment vendor Alcatel-Lucent has revealed that it has been working with Danish telco TDC to conduct trials of VDSL2 Vectoring technology. The scheme is looking at the potential to offer broadband internet access over existing copper lines at speeds of up to 100Mbps. The project is part of TDC’s commitment to the Danish government’s support of the European Union’s Digital Agenda target of delivering speeds of 100Mbps to 70% of Danish households by 2020. VDSL2 Vectoring is a noise-cancelling technology that removes interference between the multiple VDSL2 lines in a bundle, so that each VDSL2 line can operate at its best and deliver higher bit rates. This enables the delivery of downstream speeds of 100Mbps at distances of up to 400 metres.
