Du completes tests on LTE network

Du, the United Arab Emirates’ second national telecoms operator, has announced the successful testing of two technologies on its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, which the firm says will greatly improve user experience when launched in the near future. In a press release on its website, Du says its has tested Circuit Switched Fallback technology, which enables customers to enjoy LTE data speeds, while also being able to receive and place voice calls on Du’s 3G network without interrupting their mobile broadband connection. The operator has also successfully tested 4×4 multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) technology, achieving mobile broadband speeds of up to 300Mbps on its LTE network. ‘We hold our customer experience in the highest regard, and as such as constantly seeking new ways in which to improve our networks to provide them with the pinnacle of technology applications,’ said Hatem Bamatraf, executive vice president of Network Development and Operations at Du, adding: ‘The successful testing of two exciting new features to achieve speeds of up to 300Mbps amongst other network advantages, is a complement to our existing capabilities… While there are currently no handsets that support mobile broadband speeds of 300Mbps, we will introduce two new features soon to our 4G LTE customers, to greatly improve their experience.’
