Angolan WiMAX ISP Net One has augmented its service range with satellite broadband access under the ‘YahClick’ brand. The move will expand its coverage footprint to most of the country via Ka-band technology, with a commercial launch planned in the next few days, reports Agence Ecofin quoting head of the company Jaime Ferreira. At launch YahClick will cover 92% of the population, Net One claims, with remaining areas including Soyo and Cabinda to be covered ‘in due course’. TeleGeography notes that Net One is part of the Sonangol-owned MSTelcom group, and currently offers WiMAX 802.16e (mobile-capable) internet access under the ‘Net Kuya’ brand in four cities, Luanda, Lubango, Lobito and Malange, with maximum download/upload speeds of 1Mbps/512kbps.
