CHT to boost CAPEX for 2013

9 Oct 2012

Taiwanese full service telecoms provider Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) has said it expects to increase capital expenditures in 2013 from a previous budget of TWD33.1 billion (USD1.12 billion), Digitimes reports. It is understood that the development of an internet data centre in New Taipei City next year, with a view to enhancing the telco’s cloud computing services, is one of the key factors in the decision to set aside a higher investment figure.

Construction of the data centre is planned to start early next year, and with a total of four buildings covering a total floor space of 676,000 square feet to be built, it has been estimated that the project will cost between TWD13 billion and TWD15 billion. CHT is aiming to finish the centre by the end of 2014, with a view to bringing it into operation from early 2015.
