Nepal’s regulator to draw up m-commerce legislation this year

8 Oct 2012

National telecoms regulator the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) plans to prepare draft rules on the regulation of mobile commerce services in the country during the current fiscal year, the Himalayan News Service writes. The watchdog notes that technological advancements have made it possible to offer a range of financial transactions on mobile devices, including e-ticketing, e-banking and location-based services (LBS). As such, the NTA is mindful that it needs to push ahead with new rules and regulations on m-commerce in the Kingdom to ensure that end users do not fall foul of ‘fraudulent activities’.
