The Kyiv Post has reported that the Anti-Monopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) may fine MTS Ukraine and Kyivstar for setting roaming tariffs too high and for having a policy of ‘double standards’. ‘A case on roaming is being finished. In my opinion, the infringement was proved, and MTS and Kyivstar are to be fined,’ stated AMCU first deputy committee chairman Rafael Kuzmin. The AMCU is also investigating the prices set for subscribers within Ukraine, saying that both operators had failed to execute an order to decrease domestic mobile tariffs to ‘economically justified levels’. According to Ukrainian legislation, if a company is found to have breached antitrust regulations the AMCU can levy a fine of up to 10% of the operator’s annual revenue.
