Canada’s Manitoba Telecom Services (MTS Allstream) has announced the commercial launch of its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, initially covering the Manitoban cities of Winnipeg and Brandon with mobile download speeds of up to 75Mbps. Claiming the first launch of 4G LTE in Manitoba, MTS said that it will expand the network across the province in 2013, augmenting its existing HSPA+ services. As previously reported by CommsUpdate, in June 2012 MTS selected Ericsson as an exclusive partner to supply it with LTE infrastructure. MTS’ press release indicates that some customers have had access to its 4G data speeds since the end of August.
