Claro to spend USD500m in 2013

Telesemana reports that Claro Chile intends to invest around USD500 million in 2013, primarily on infrastructure development. Gerardo Munoz, the general manager of the Mexican-backed telco said: ‘We have big plans for LTE [Long Term Evolution] technology, which we will be applying next year,’ adding that the company would be investing in cable and digital TV. As noted by TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, America Movil-owned Claro Chile claimed 5.73 million wireless subscribers at the end of June 2012 representing 22.7% of the market.
