SK boosts backhaul with Alca-Lu

21 Sep 2012

French-US vendor Alcatel-Lucent has rolled out a 100Gbps fibre-optic network in Seoul and Gyeonggi province for SK Broadband. The backhaul network will allow the telco to better manage growing customer demands for bandwidth-intensive services such as IPTV, High Definition (HD) video and voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP). Alca-Lu added that the upgraded network will reduce operating costs for SK Broadband by cutting power consumption. The enhanced network can also be upgraded to 400Gbps in the future.
