Indian telco Reliance Communications (RCOM) has announced that it will raise tariffs by 25% in a bid to improve operating margins, the Economic Times reports. RCOM is increasing its basic call rate from INR0.012 (USD0.00022) per second to INR0.015 per second. The price jump follows the disconnection of some 20 million pre-paid subscribers that had not used their phones for two months. RCOM claimed that the move was part of a new strategy to track average margin per user, rather than average monthly revenue per user (ARPU).
