Croatian regulator HAKOM has selected applications from telcos for granting of aid for the deployment of broadband networks in remote and rural areas, especially in areas of special state concern, including mountainous zones and islands. The winners were: T-Hrvatski Telekom (in Osijek-Baranja County, Primorsko-Gorski Kotar County and Lika-Senj), and H1 Telekom (in Karlovac County). The total amount of grants awarded was HRK14.46 million (USD2.53 million), of the total available HRK15.5 million. After signing a contract with the selected bidders HAKOM will launch a new tender for the granting of aid for broadband development in targeted counties that were not included in the first round.
