Vodacom Tanzania halves cost of off-net calls

Dar es Salaam-based newspaper the Daily News writes that Vodacom Tanzania has slashed the cost of off-net mobile calls by 50%. The cellco has introduced a new ‘Bonga Tariff’ which applies to both pre-paid and contract (Vodajaza) customers and which costs TZS1.5 (USD0.00097) per second, down from TZS3.0 previously. Vodacom Tanzania is the leading player by subscribers in the east African nation, with a market share of 38.6% at 30 June 2012, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database.
