b lite 4G sprouting up in Brussels by year-end

Clearwire Belgium has unveiled a new brand, b lite, under which it plans to launch Time Division-Long Term Evolution (TD-LTE) mobile broadband services in Brussels by the end of the year, writes Total Telecom. Earlier this year US WiMAX provider Clearwire sold its Belgian subsidiary to TechMax, a local telecoms company owned by businessman Max Heilbron. The new owner aims ‘to start a genuine revolution within the world of telecommunication,’ according to a statement from b lite, which adds: ‘Given time, b lite will be the fast, wireless and affordable alternative for digital TV, telephone services and internet.’ TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database notes that Clearwire won a 3.5GHz licence in Belgium, covering around 7.2 million people across 44 municipalities, in April 2004.
