From Bee to G: GTel Mobile rebrands following Vimpelcom’s exit

18 Sep 2012

Vietnamese wireless operator GTel Mobile has unveiled a new brand following the decision of Amsterdam-headquartered international telecoms group Vimpelcom to sell its entire 49% stake in the cellco in April 2012. GTel Mobile, which has offered GSM/EDGE services under Vimpelcom’s Beeline brand since launch in July 2009, has announced that it has chosen to rebrand as ‘Gmobile’ and has unveiled a new logo and slogan. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, GTel Mobile is one of six mobile operators in Vietnam, with a market share of just 1.7% at the end of June 2012.
