China Mobile, the world’s largest cellco by subscribers, has continued to drum up vendor support for China’s home grown 4G technology, Time Division Long Term Evolution (TD-LTE) with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the China Mobile Research Institute (CMRI) – the cellco’s research and development arm – and US-based chipmaker Aeroflex. TM World reports that the pair have agreed to cooperate on the testing and verification of LTE functionality and performance as well as the development of a number of LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) technologies such as enhanced inter-cell interference coordination (eICIC) and uplink multiple input, multiple output (UL-MIMO).
