Indonesia’s second largest telecom service provider by value PT Indosat has been issued with a third-generation (3G) mobile licence in the 900MHz band, Dow Jones Newswires reports. Commenting on the award, Indosat chief executive officer Harry Sasongko said that the cellco is ‘ready to modernise [its] mobile cellular network by improving capacity to provide broadband access’. The 900MHz band is seen by industry watchers as key to enabling Indosat to ramp up its mobile data revenues.
