IG Telecom awards USD15m contract to Hughes

Internet Gabon Telecom (IG Telecom) has this week signed a USD15 million contract with US-based satellite technology provider Hughes Network Systems, under a project named Triple Net aimed at offering the entire Gabonese population access to the internet, satellite TV and radio, reports Agency Ecofin. IG Telecom also aims to reduce the cost of access to the internet under the Triple Net programme, which it hopes will be launched in late 2012. Oumar Ba, CEO of IG Telecom, said the group also plans to expand its services in Nigeria. IG Telecom is an internet service provider (ISP) in Gabon which specialises in VSAT-based access.
