Frankfurt-based internet exchange DE-CIX and partner XConnect have announced the launch of DE-CIX NGN, a next generation network communications exchange, in Germany. The new service will enable network operators to offer cross-network voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP) and next generation multimedia services, such as HD voice, video and unified communications, easily and cost-effectively. ‘The new DE-CIX NGN services will make it efficient for telecom service providers in Germany and around the globe to extend their interconnects to VoIP to exchange voice and multimedia services,’ commented DE-CIX CEO Harald Summa, adding: ‘We are excited to launch the DE-CIX NGN service and see it as the perfect addition to the high quality IP peering services that are already offered over the well-reputed DE-CIX infrastructure.’ The DE-CIX NGN will be officially launched on 13 September at the DE-CIX Meeting Centre in Frankfurt.
