Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) has been awarded a PKR3.15 billion (USD33.12 million) project to deliver basic telephony and data services to the Mastung district of Balochistan province reports local daily The Nation. The project is backed by the Universal Service Fund (USF) and is part of the country’s Rural Telecom Services Project. Under the agreement, PTCL will roll out services to 102 unserved villages in the region, with a total population of 74,831. Commenting on the deal, PTCL senior executive Sikandar Naqi said: ‘PTCL is committed to the government of Pakistan’s vision for bridging the digital divide and creating an expansive growth of broadband in Pakistan.’
