A government committee in Sierra Leone is to interview representatives from the country’s cellular operators over concerns of poor network performance. According to a report from the News.sl website, the chairman of the Parliamentary oversight committee on Information and Communication, Yapo Condeh Conteh, will question the regulator, the National Telecommunications Commission (NATCOM), alongside service providers such as Airtel, Africell, Comium and Sierratel. The investigation stems from a number of consumer complaints and the government says that under the Telecommunications Act 2006 operators have an obligation to provide a good quality service or else pay compensation to subscribers.
