Verizon launches LTE in 28 new markets, extends network in eleven areas

Verizon Wireless, the owner of the United States’ largest Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, has announced that it will extend 4G connectivity to 28 new markets today, while also expanding its existing network in eleven established areas. The deployments mean that Verizon’s LTE network is now available in 258 markets across the US, covering more than two-thirds of the population. Going forward, the next seven months will see Verizon Wireless deliver its LTE network to more than 140 new locations, spanning 49 states.

New markets set for LTE connectivity today are listed as: Houma/Thibodaux and Lake Charles (Louisiana); Hyannis/Mid-Cape (Massachusetts); Benton Harbor/St. Joseph (Michigan); Biloxi/Gulfport/Pascagoula and Oxford (Mississippi); Atlantic City/Toms River (New Jersey); Dickinson and Williston (North Dakota); Ashtabula, Bucyrus and Defiance (Ohio); Eugene/Springfield (Oregon); Lancaster, New Castle, Northern Cambria County, Oil City/Franklin, Somerset and York (Pennsylvania); Myrtle Beach (South Carolina); Mitchell (South Dakota); Paris (Texas); Burlington/Northern (Vermont); Fredericksburg, Harrisonburg, Martinsville and Staunton/Waynesboro (Virginia) and Sheridan (Wyoming).

In addition, Verizon will be expanding LTE coverage in Denver (Colorado); Dover (Delaware); Fort Myers and Lakeland (Florida); Hagerstown (Maryland); Canton, Lima, Mansfield, Toledo and Youngstown/Warren (Ohio) and Erie (Pennsylvania).
