The planned auction of the Kyrgyz government’s 49% stake in mobile operator Megacom has so far failed to attract any potential bidders, reports Telecompaper citing Tazabek.kg. The deadline for applications is 18 May and the auction is scheduled to take place on 22 May; the starting price has been set at KGS4.9 billion (USD104 million). An earlier attempt at selling the stake was cancelled in November 2011, after only one participant – reported to be Sweden’s TeliaSonera – had applied to take part.
