Uzbekistan’s largest cellco by subscribers, MTS Uzbekistan has reported net additions of 230,000 mobile customers for the three months ended 31 March 2012, bringing its total to 9.53 million. As noted in TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, the Russian-backed cellco had seen a steep drop in subscribers in the fourth quarter of 2011, from 9.97 million to 9.30 million, causing its market share to fall by 3.2 percentage points to 38.8%.
