Virgin launches MVNO in Chile

UK-based Virgin Mobile has announced the launch of wireless operations in Chile. Virgin offers its services via a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) agreement with Spain’s Telefonica Moviles Chile, which operates under the Movistar banner. Virgin offers pre-paid data, voice, SMS and MMS services and is targeting the youth segment by offering additional benefits such as access to discounts on brand products and concert and event tickets. Virgin’s basic data packages grant 30MB of data usage for CLP1,800 (USD3.68), 15 minutes of calls across all networks for CLP1,500, 15 SMS for CLP500 and 20 MMS for CLP1,000.
