Bouygues Telecom has unveiled plans for the deployment of a pilot LTE network in Lyon in June. The company says that by the end of 2012 it hopes to have 5,000 LTE sites, although the specific cities to be covered are as yet unknown. A commercial launch is expected in early 2013, and the operator hopes to cover ‘major cities’ by the end of that year. Meanwhile the company continues to press ahead with its 42Mbps HSPA+ network that it launched in November 2011; by June it will reach 50% of the population.
