The vice-president of Vimpelcom, Dmitry Kromsky, has revealed that the company’s Uzbek subsidiary will launch LTE services before the end of 2011. Beeline Uzbekistan is set to become Vimpelcom’s first subsidiary in the CIS to launch a 4G network. Rival operator MTS Uzbekistan launched LTE in August, at the time becoming only the fourth commercial 4G network in the world. Another local operator, Uzell, is currently trialling LTE in Tashkent.
