Azerbaijan’s largest mobile operator by subscribers, Azercell, launched 3G services on Friday, just over two weeks after receiving its concession from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT). The TeliaSonera subsidiary becomes the second operator in Azerbaijan to offer next-generation services. ‘The launch of 3G services in Azerbaijan will provide our customers with mobile broadband that is up to 20 times faster than the current 2G technology,’ said Tero Kivisaari, TeliaSonera’s President of Business Area Eurasia. The Swedish company now offers 3G across its entire European footprint.
