The Indian government has extended the preferred vendor status of state-owned telecom equipment manufacturer ITI for two years, meaning that public sector telcos including BSNL and MTNL must continue giving 30% of their orders to the Bangalore-based vendor. The extended period, which started 21 September, applies the 30% quota to products manufactured by ITI and to projects including network rollout.
