The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) has allowed the country’s mobile network operators extra time to register the personal details of their pre-paid subscribers, after an original deadline of 31 August passed. Minister of Information, Communications and Technology, Nelson Chamisa, told local press that a new cut-off date would be established in the coming weeks for all SIM card owners to provide proof of identity. ‘POTRAZ has decided to extend the deadline on the account of people having failed to meet the deadline of 31 August,’ Chamisa said.
