China Mobile says that growing demand and the rollout of mobile internet services are major drivers behind its 4.2% increase in first-half net profit and 7.9% increase in revenue year-on-year. The cellco revealed that first-half net profit increased to RMB57.6 billion (USD8.4 billion) on revenues of RMB229.8 billion, while EBITDA rose 6.1% to RMB116.6 billion, giving a margin of 50.7%. Meanwhile, China Mobile’s subscriber base increased by 12.4% over the twelve months to 30 June, to reach 554.042 million, while ARPU fell 4.5% to RMB72. Data service revenues rose to RMB30.5 billion from RMB22.8 billion in the same period in 2009.
