Vodafone Malta has partnered Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) to implement an upgrade to its 3.5G HSDPA mobile network to double its peak download speed capability to 14.4Mbps, whilst also introducing HSUPA technology to the network with theoretical maximum upstream rates of 2Mbps. The USD12 million upgrade will see the higher HSPDA speeds rolled out nationwide by the end of June 2010, with no commercial launch date given for HSUPA services.
