Mobily continues wireless broadband growth

12 Apr 2010

The Saudi Gazette reports that cellco Mobily ended 2009 with one million wireless broadband subscribers connecting to the internet using HSPA. The network itself is available in 337 regions, provinces, cities and towns across the Kingdom, reaching 80% of the population. Mobily, regularly ranked among the leading operators in the region, is currently deploying HSPA+. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Mobily’s share of the country’s wireless market stood at just over 40% at the end of 2009; the company is gradually narrowing the gap on Saudi Telecom Company, which finished the year with a 48% share.
